September is seeing works progressing on the southern land bridge section of Walmer Bridge

• Western footpath works are now complete with the installation of handrails to commence soon.
• The foundations for the new steel structure have commenced as well as the concrete connections off the existing plaza which the new bridge will attach to
• Scaffolding will be erected toward the end of the September which will allow the existing footbridge to be demolished and the new steel to be erected.

The site team are on program and doing a great job in ensuring any opportunities to deliver the works earlier than planned are taken. We are hoping the lower footpath that connects the capital trail can be opened prior to the Christmas break (weather permitting) to ensure the public have access to the bridge and trail for the holiday period. These may have to be closed again for landscaping works as these will be commence early in 2024 to ensure the planting is successful during the summer period.
